Details: These are delicately balanced tools that are the planes of the spindle turners tool kit. Originally designed at Robert Sorby, the profile allows the tool to glide effortlessly along the tool rest without fear of the edges dragging on the rest. These will smooth cylinders, clean the end grain of spindles, cut shallow curves, beads, pummels and v-cuts, e.g. stair balustrading and chair legs. These tools are indispensable if a fine finish is required from the tool. Made from high speed steel and then properly hardened and tempered. They will keep a sharpened edge about six times longer than carbon steel and resist “blued” softening from overheating during grinding or from heavy turning. They come with hard White Ash handles and brass ferrules. Handle is 10 inches long with the tool being 6 1/4 inches in length. Overall length is 16 1/4 inches.
