Details: This tool is rectangular in cross section giving it more weight and making it superb for spindle work e.g. newel posts and table legs. Recently modified by rolling the edges slightly to help turners avoid catching an edge and to allow greater maneuverability. Made from high speed steel and then properly hardened and tempered. They will keep a sharpened edge about six times longer than carbon steel and resist “blued” softening from overheating during grinding or from heavy turning.
